OCHA- Office for the Coordination Of Humanitarian Affairs

I don't see anything in there yet about Hurricane Season preparing.

Key Issues
• Shelter cluster members have reached 86% of the known caseload (of 1.5 million people) with emergency shelter materials.
Shelter/Non-Food Items (NFI)
To date, over 411,182 tarpaulins have been distributed along with over 53,000 family size tents. Over 87,881 Households have been supplied with ropes and fixing materials while 18,762 tool kits have been distributed. The following key household NFIs have also been distributed: 82,824 Kitchen Sets, 248,199 Hygiene Kits, 306,923 Blankets, and 116,304 Mosquito Nets.
However, some distributions of emergency shelters have been found to leak rain water.
• Over 3,000 people have moved to the new relocation site of Corail Cesselesse.
• There is a sharp increase in the cases of forced evictions by private owners (particularly private school owners) who are eager to re-open their schools.
This situation has apparently or allegedly taken the relief effort by surprise, even though the first such incident we were aware of was over a month ago.  It has been impractical to do anything about this, other than talk talk talk.
People who are displaced by natural disasters (should) have the same rights and often the same needs as those displaced by violence, and yet they are more often neglected.

• After providing emergency food rations to 3.5 million people in the months following the earthquake, WFP is now transitioning its programme to support recovery effort through long term food security and investments in human capital.
• Schools continue to re-open progressively. As of 14 April, 66 out of 184 primary schools have re-opened in Leogane while 91 out of 281 primary schools have reopened in Petit and Grand Goave.
* Haiti recently faced a fuel shortage which affected the daily activities of Haitians.
* According to the Financial Tracking Service (FTS), the revised Humanitarian Appeal of US$ 1.4 billion is 54 percent funded at US$ 802 million, with another US$ 27 million in uncommitted pledges.
* The increases in malaria cases are ho hum, no big deal, according to OCHA. I guess that makes sense within the context of 40% of the world at risk,

and tons of cases showing up all over Haiti.

The CDC is taking this a bit more seriously.
