MAISON FUTAIE - Haiti Shelter-Housing

What Should Haitian Housing look like? We need to develop a strategy, good planning, and a vision about what we want Haiti to look like. Our rebuilding should include economic opportunity for everyone in the housing/construction sector. The GoH does not have the money to give everyone free housing but they can make housing accessible and affordable to the poor majority. It's just a matter of creating economic opportunities and the right financial structure. Below is an interview with MAISON FUTAIE. Their plan is to make wood houses for the middle class in Haiti.

I understand the problem: housing builder companies cannot and should not expect the GoH to undertake the liason. The GoH has been under capacity for many years. Maybe electoral outcomes will change that. In the meantime private efforts may be the way to go: contact RebuildHaitiBetter.ning.com

Well, the GoH has the resources available to build up its capacity if they wanted too. The problem is that there is a lack of urgency to solve Land Rights issues. The GoH is stuck in protecting certain interests instead of the Haitian majority.
